EICMA - New motorcycle models for 2010

The 2010 GS will have the HP2 engine. This is according to German magazine TOURENFAHRER edition Sep-2009.

And for the friends of the V-Strom 1000, the same magazine writes it comes with direct injection V2 and shaft drive. No further information.

Not sure I like the idea of HP2 motor...I saw on one site it would be a detuned HP2 motor. Only gained about 5 hp...
Hi John, gonna get one with a shaft?

Many in Germany complain about the uneven torque delivery. There is an entire industry living from that just for this model, the R 1200 GS. It could be the main purpose is not gaining a few hp, but improving the torque delivery, in particular around 4,500 rpm.

Sometimes eyesight can be deceiving. (Actually that happens not seldom)

It seems it's going according to the plan. Refer to my post here http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,6065.0.html, post from 10/01/08.

That would depend on what the rest of it is like & not the first year.

The rest would be 'Tigerish', but with better passenger seating. Not the first year from any manufacturer, that's for sure.

One of the main reasons I don't have a Tiger now is the rear end & passenger seating. So if the new vee is similar with good rear it's a good possibly I'll see one down the road. Hope they keep the wee pretty much the way it is now though.

Peter, Officially, BMW is saying only a gain of 7 HP but stronger mid range torque. It will not be as easy to do maintenance on this motor unless one is familiar witht the use of shims to set the valves. Plus side is Shim designs tend to stay within Specs longer. I am disappointed that they are not taking advantage of the full potential of the HP2 designed engine.

To me that doesn't say anything, except they are still trying to make a few $$ from an old model somewhere.

We'll have to see what the manufactured date is when the L0 shows up in the showroom.
